Impact

The Strategy and Policy team is responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing the organizational strategy and defining short and long-term outcomes that advance NVPC’s vision and mission
  • Defining NVPC’s strategic positioning leveraging its unique strengths and role in the external giving landscape
  • Understanding the external environment, trends and developments on giving and implications on the organisation’s strategy
  • Leading the strategic planning process including programme reviews, tracking and assessment of progress towards goals to ensure alignment with their original intent
  • Driving and managing partnerships with key government stakeholders to advance NVPC’s strategic objectives and influence policies and programmes with national impact

The Lead, Strategy & Policy, is a key contributor in this new, cross-functional team and reports to the Director, Strategy & Policy.

Responsibilities

Strategy Development

  • Facilitate development and implementation of organisational strategy
  • Support development and management of narrative on NVPC’s strategy
  • Provide intelligence and analyses to support strategic decision-making on programmes/products/initiatives, undertaking sector analyses that describe sector activities and intentions, performing ad-hoc evaluations, and distributing key information as needed

Strategy & Planning

  • Drive alignment of NVPC’s platform/products and collaboration among teams
  • Understand and analyse performance and impact of supporting platform/product strategies
  • Manage the timely and accurate reporting and analysis of performance and tracking indicators, including organizational and team KPIs

Government Relations

  • Identify and help steward relationships with key government and government-related stakeholders to influence policies and programmes with national impact
  • Assess policy/national programme needs & opportunities, map and analyse network and decision-making levels of stakeholders
  • Help manage relationship and correspondence with funder(s) and related teams

Leadership

  • Identify opportunities for collaboration with NVPC and among public sector partners
  • Act as bridge to outreach and institutional partnerships team to ensure consistent approach across key public sector partners
  • Serve as a role model to create and grow a high-performing, high-quality work environment
  • Lead special projects as needed

Requirements

  • Degree in Business Management
  • Minimum of 10 years in leadership role in operations functions
  • Understanding of business analysis and business requirements gathering discipline preferred
  • Self-starter/entrepreneurial spirit
  • High functioning organisational skills and ability to prioritise multiple demands
  • Ability to work independently as well as with teams
  • Ability to demonstrate executive presence with C-level partners
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, business acumen and interpersonal skills
  • Strong prioritisation, planning, and analytical skills
  • Goal oriented and personally accountable; resourceful, self-directed and team player
  • Adaptable and flexible; open minded, innovative and creative – seeks ‘out of box’ solutions
