Assistant Manager, Groundup Partnership (Capability Devt)

NPO & Community Partnerships Full-time - Contract


The role will enrich of the Giving landscape in Singapore by growing leaders of good in the groundup community and strengthening the supporting ecosystem.

Groundup groups are informal groups, who embody the spirit of giving, who rally the community to respond to issues arising within communities. They diversify and strengthen the Giving Ecosystem by creating innovative solutions, offering opportunities for informal volunteering, and encouraging a sense of ownership within communities as a result.

The groundup team in NVPC works to support the efforts of Groundups and build a vibrant Ground-up ecosystem by:(a) Nurturing, Inspiring and Growing new & existing Groundups

Recognising that the needs of groundups vary at different stages of their journey, the team curates different offerings and programmes to meet the needs of these groundups. From curating talks to inspire more to start their passion projects, to an incubator programme, the Groundup Sandbox that offers a more guided approach to starting, sharpening & execution of ideas, to capability development and peer learning in our signature ConneXion event with fellow groundups, NVPC helps support, inspire, nurture and grow groundups in Singapore.

(b) Developing Resources, Tools & Infrastructure

Groundup work also focuses on building resources and tools to support the work of groundups. Development of an Online Resource Centre enables ease and accessibility to helpful resources such as grants and funding by various partners. Development of win-win partnerships with various government agencies, non-profit organisations and corporates are thus, an important part of the work.

(c) Increasing the awareness and support for Groundups

With innovative and creative marketing campaigns, NVPC hopes to amplify the voice and good work of the various groundups across different causes in our community. By doing so, we hope to acknowledge the efforts of these teams, inspire others to join or support them, or start their own passion projects.

(d) Strengthening the Groundup Ecosystem

In an effort to strengthen the ecosystem, we will build our knowledge of the landscape and issues in the groundup space with research, in order to strengthen our strategy to support groundups. We will carry this out, while concurrently building our collaborations and partnerships with various stakeholders and organisations.

Intended Focus of the role:

The primary focus of this role would be to strengthen the capability development programmes for groundups that are starting up, and for those that are interested in growing and scaling their efforts.


The Core Duty would be to understand the needs of groundups that are starting up and groundups that are scaling, and to develop programmes and offerings to support their growth.

Responsibilities would include:

  1. Engagement of groundups to determine key user needs.
  2. Development of an incubation programme and accelerator programme to support the growth of groundups who are starting out or scaling respectively
  3. Desktop research to understand existing offerings. Identification and engagement of possible partners.
  4. Plan, market and execute the programmes within FY20 within the allocated budget
  5. Work cross-functionally to meet the macro-level objectives to grow the Groundup community and ecosystem.


  • At least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years working experience
  • Programme development and execution/ event management
  • Engagement & partnership skills
  • Strong communication skills and people skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-driven
  • Ability to work independently with personal initiative
  • Proficiency in MS office suite
  • Interest and passionate for causes
  • Hands on and detailed
  • Team oriented

This is a 2-years contract position, with an option to extend for the 3rd year depending on performance of the selected candidate.
