Assistant Director, Strategy & Partnerships

Impact

The Assistant Director, Strategy & Partnerships, is a key contributor on a focused, highly visible team that 1) develops and executes robust strategies, plans, and analytics and 2) drives and manages key partnerships to meet NVPC’s strategic objectives. Together with the rest of the team, this position plays a key role in:

Strategy & Planning - Providing information and programme analysis to support strategic decision-making, performing sector analyses that describe sector activities and intentions, performing ad-hoc evaluations and distributing key information as needed

Partnerships - Identifying and stewarding relationships with key partners

He/she reports to the Director, Strategy.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Support development of overall organisational strategy and corresponding platform/product strategies
  • Drive alignment of NVPC’s platform/products and collaboration among teams
  • Co-develop and manage of narrative on NVPC’s strategy
  • Support Board relations and matters including meetings, retreats, correspondence, etc.
  • Manage relationship and correspondence with funder(s)
  • Lead, monitor, and report on measurement and evaluation, including KPIs, corporate dashboard, etc.
  • Lead annual work planning process

Partnerships

  • Shape partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Coordinate outreach including assessing needs & opportunities, profile mapping, and market analyses
  • Steward and manage key relationships, including linking with other teams and partners to maximise collaboration potential
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration with NVPC and among partners
  • Act as bridge to engagement team to ensure consistent approach across key partners
  • Develop and execute a business relationship strategy; establish goals and objectives that are consistent with the organisation’s goals
  • Serve as the organisation’s liaison with key partners
  • Provide leadership to create and maintain a high-performance, high-quality work environment, producing services that exceed expectations
  • Create and execute a communication plan keeping all stakeholders aligned and current with status of work in progress, issues and future initiatives
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers of the assigned strategic partnership

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business Management
  • At least 10 years of experience in corporate/strategic planning, and/or
  • At least 10 years of business development and/or partner relationship management experience, managing a large number of relationships
  • Understanding of business analysis and business requirements gathering discipline
  • Self-starter/entrepreneurial spirit
  • High functioning organisational skills and ability to prioritise multiple demands
  • Ability to work independently as well as with teams

  • Ability to demonstrate adaptability and leadership styles to effectively engage with senior management and junior staff alike
