A Community Foundation is an independent, nonprofit, philanthropic organisation which builds a collection of funds from many donors in the community. It provides services to the community and its donors, makes grants, and undertakes community leadership and partnership activities to address a wide variety of needs.
The Community Foundation of Singapore, on its part, will target high net worth individuals by matching their interests with causes and non-profit organisations. The CF will help donors who seek independent advice on which causes and organisations to support, and proactively source innovative projects in consultation with non-profit leaders and other experts to achieve donors' intent. As funds are pooled, donors would save on time and expenses through economies of scale, and learn grantmaking as a precursor to setting up their own foundations if they so choose. Donors may also advise which causes or non-profit organisations to direct their donations to.
